James Lewis "Jim" Prater, 74, of Wallingford, KY passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at Kenton Pointe Care Center.

Jim was born June, 14, 1940 in Lewis County, KY to the late James Willis and Gertrude Deatley Prater.

Jim was a lifelong farmer and local mechanic for his neighbors and friends. Jim loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved when company would stop by and they could sit on the porch, tell stories and enjoy each other's company. Jim was a man of Christian faith and attended Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clayton Monroe Prater and Carl Gene Prater.

Survivors include his wife Roberta "Bertie" Howell Prater; daughter Tammy (Marty) Purdon; grandchildren Jimmy Dale Purdon and Jamie Lynn Purdon; brother Ernest Gerald Prater; sister Sandra Prater Kimbler; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1PM Monday March 2, 2015 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Layne Wagner, Pastor Tom Mitchell, Pastor Travis Roberts and Rev. Arnold Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Double P Family Cemetery in Wallingford. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
