Helen Joan Gulley, 79, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at her residence. She was the widow of Oscar “Tony” Gulley.
Born in Fleming County on May 1, 1946, Joan was a daughter of the late John Niece and the late Sudie McKee Niece Kilgore.
Joan is survived by her son, Jeffrey O. Gulley and Lee Hall; her grandchild, Christine G. (Daniel) Rowe; and her three great grandchildren, Christian J. Helphinstine, Paisley R. Schatz, and Ensley LaShae Ross. She is also survived by three of her siblings, Jesse Niece, Mae Little, and Shirley Humphries; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to Tony, her husband of 47 years who passed in 2016; and her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two of her children, Sharon Plummer and Travis Gulley; a great grandchild; three of her siblings, Lottie Richey, Mildred Farrow, and John Niece; and two half siblings, Eunice Pendland and Elbert “Eb” Niece.
Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. noon, Friday, April 17, 2026, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
Joan will be laid to rest in Wallingford Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 a.m., Friday, until the hour of service at 12 p.m., at Boone-Nickell, located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg, Kentucky 41041.
