John Carpenter, Jr., 82, of Flemingsburg, went Home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
Born in Maysville, Ky. on February 29, 1940, he was the son of the late John Carpenter, Sr., and the late Julia Ann McFarland Carpenter.
John was a dairy and tobacco farmer for the majority of his life. He worked for Carnation. He was a Kentucky Colonel and an honorary member of the Cincinnati Reds. He loved bowling. He was a member of the Victory Assembly of God. While attending the Flemingsburg Assembly of God he served as a Sunday school superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, a song leader, and an evangelist.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Joyce Clos Carpenter; his three children, Greg Carpenter, Becky Cooper and Mike; Brenda Coyle and Jared; 11 grandchildren, Bradley Herrington, Rebekah Neaves, Amanda Ahlfeld, Joshua Herrington, Christina East, Ashley Coyle, Dixie Coyle, Brian Shannon, Steve Ingram, Kierah Cooper, Elijah Cooper; along with 22 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Yolanda Robinson; his parents John and Julia; and his four siblings.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Victory Assembly of God with Pastors David York and Larry Joseph officiating.
John will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Bradley Herrington, Josh Herrington, Elijah Cooper, Steve Ingram, Robin Carpenter, and Caleb Neaves. Brian Shannon will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the church located at 587 Taylor Mill Road, Flemingsburg, KY 41041.
