June Darnall, 89, of Flemingsburg, KY, passed away Saturday March 22, 2014 at Fleming County Hospital after an extended illness.
June was born February 8, 1925 in Nepton, Kentucky to the late William Wilson and Zela Lucille Hendrix Darnall.
June was a well-known and respected area farmer for his entire life. He had many other backgrounds as well he was a mechanic, plumber, electrician, carpenter and truck driver to name just a few. He was a member of Elizaville Christian Church since the age of 6, a longtime member of the Fleming Lodge #30, I.O.O.F., and a founding member of the Col Fleming Mussel Loaders Club. June proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army as a PFC.
June is survived by his; grandchildren Jarred (Sara) Darnall and William Darnall; great grandchildren Emily, Emma and Kate; daughter-in-law Lezlie Shivar; cousin Lucia Ann Lister.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Josephine, son Wayne Wilson Darnall and parents.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Boone – Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Rich Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Daniel Suit, Matt Plymesser,John Sloan, Charles Litzler, Tommy Whisman, Tony McGlone, Frankie Vice, Tommy McDonald and Tony Abrams will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elizaville Christian Church.
