Phyllis Kay Reed, 87, of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Flemingsburg on April 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harlan Davis Meadows and the late Laura Bruce Johnson Meadows.
Kay loved her cats and her grandkids. She loved sitting around doing her puzzles and listening to Elvis and playing cards. She attended the Licking Valley Senior Citizen Center in Flemingsburg and was a member of the Greater Rain Community Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann (husband Kelly) Grannis and Sharon Dennison (Mike Bradford); her four grandchildren, Kacee McKee, Chanz McKee, Sebastian Grannis (Abby Short), and James (wife Tiffany) Finamore III; and her four great grandchildren, Paisleigh Darr, Piper Baker, Paul Finamore, and Paxton Finamore. She is also survived by special friend, Frank Hunt; one of her brothers, David Meadows; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.
In addition to her mother Laura and her father Harlan, Kay was preceded in death by three of her brothers, Carl Willoughby Meadows, Bud Meadows and Alva Meadows; her two sisters, Sue McGlone and Glendora Meadows Hendrix Saunders; along with the father of her daughters, Ray Reed.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob White officiating.
Kay will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Kelly Grannis, Mike Bradford, William Hendrix, Johnny Hendrix, Frank Hunt, and Jacob Hesler. Honorary pallbearers include David Meadows, Kacee McKee, and Chanz McKee.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Monday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
