Obituary

Roy Kenneth “Kenny” Hunt, 77, of Fleming County, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Kenny was born in Fleming County on October 16, 1948, to the late Herman Hunt and the late Leona Deal Hunt.

A lifelong farmer, Kenny spent his life working the land he loved before retiring. He was a faithful member of the Flemingsburg Freewill Baptist Church.

On March 14, 1970, Kenny married the love of his life Martha Jane Campbell Hunt. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage and built a life centered around faith, family, and the simple joys that made Kenny who he was.

Kenny enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his family, watching westerns and WWE wrestling, working in his garden, and enjoying something sweet whenever he had the chance. He and Jane also enjoyed vacations to the beach and spending time in Tennessee and North Carolina. And no matter where the road took him, Kenny always made sure to pack a little extra Wrigley’s chewing gum.

Although he could be quiet by nature, those who knew Kenny best knew that he enjoyed a good laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was truly one of a kind. His love for his family, a good dessert, and Wrigley’s chewing gum were just a few of the things that made him unforgettable. He will be dearly missed and his family will always treasure the many memories, stories, and time spent together.

Kenny will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Kenny leaves behind his beloved wife, Martha Jane Campbell Hunt; his three children, Jennifer (Joseph) Wisecup, Kimberly (Chris) Mullikin, and JR (Tammy) Hunt; his eight grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margie (Donnie) Workman; his brother, Frankie Hunt; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by nine of his siblings, Ann Hughes, Nadine Workman, Christine Workman, Phyllis Kay Kelly, Ruby DeAtley, Marie Ritchey, Floyd Hunt, Herman Hunt Jr., and Loretta Hunt.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2026, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Herbie Stallard officiating.

Kenny will be laid to rest in Shannon Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Tyler Mullikin, Cameron Hunt, Levi McPherson, Mike Workman, Jeff Workman, Randy Workman.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
