Laura Faye Cooper Denton, 81, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Fleming County Hospital. She was the widow of Jim Denton.
Born in Poplar Plains, Ky. on September 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Enos Cooper and the late Nettie Honea Cooper.
With a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Laura Faye worked at Fleming County Hospital. With her sister, Nancy Powell, she co-owned and operated Powell-Denton Florist. Upon receiving her Master's Degree in her forties she went on to work at Maysville Community and Technical College as a professor of Accounting.
Laura Faye is survived by her three children, Nancy Sue Denton Ray and husband Kelly, Patti Denton Workman and husband Gary, Greg Denton and wife Tammy; her six grandchildren, Brady Ray, Cooper Ray, Eric Workman, Drew Workman, Bret Denton, Jeana Denton Hnatuk; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her husband Jim and her parents Enos and Nettie, she was preceded in death by her six siblings, Glenn Cooper, Warner "Eggie" Cooper, Enos Lawton Cooper, Joe "Dopey" Cooper, Joyce Fischer, and Nancy Powell.
The funeral service will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Greg Denton officiating.
Visitation will be 5 p.m., until the hour of service at 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
All in attendance are strongly encouraged to wear face masks and to observe social distancing.
Laura Faye will be privately laid to rest.
