Obituary

Leroy Talbert, 65, of Flemingsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Fayette County, Kentucky on September 1, 1950, Leroy was a son of the late Ernest and Mary Beech Talbert.

Leroy attended Western Kentucky University and was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. For 38 years, he worked as a certified welder for Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) in Manchester. Leroy was a long time Mason serving as the Master of Acacia Lodge #24 of Maysville, KY, a member of Herman Chapter #8 Maysville, KY, a member of Holy Royal Arch Mason. He was 1st. Lt. of Hiram Consistory 123 of Covington, KY, and was also a member of United Supreme council of 33rd degree Masons of the Southern Jurisdiction PHA. He was a member of the Ambassadors Club in Maysville. He attended Strawberry United Methodist Church and was a member of New Zion UMC. He loved fishing and hunting and was known as a master griller.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Prather Talbert; his daughter, LeAhna Marie Talbert; brothers, Gary Talbert, Courtney (Janis) Talbert, Everett (Mary) Talbert and Derek Talbert; sisters, Ernestine Harris, Flora Jean Figgs, Fannie (Tyrone) Smith, LaFerne (Gordon) Berry, Darcy Talbert and Deidreah Talbert; special nephews, R. T - Wuan Prather and Andre Harris; brother and sister-in-laws, Sam Prather, James C. (Freda) Prather, Eleanor J. Smothers, and Tassa J. Wigginton; several nieces and nephews; along with many friends and extended family.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 at Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road in Lexington, KY with the Rev. John Travis and the Rev. Rodney Mason officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion UMC cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at New Zion UMC, 122 New Zion Lane in Lexington. Masonic rites will be at 7 PM Thursday. Visitation will also be from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at Consolidated Baptist Church.

Mr. Talbert's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
