Obituary

Linda McIntyre Cooper, age 75, of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.  She was the widow of Enos Lawton Cooper.


Born in Maysville on June 20, 1949, Linda was the daughter of Annette "Sue" Fawns McIntyre and the late Kenneth McIntyre.


Linda was a Registered Nurse (RN) for 44 years, working at Fleming County Hospital from 1970 until her retirement in 2014, when she then became a founding member of the Hospital Retiree Lunch Group.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Masonic appendant body known as A. P. Gooding 172 Chapter.  She was also a member of the Elizaville Christian Church.  Linda loved to play bridge, was an avid UK basketball fan, and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley.


In addition to her mother Sue, Linda is survived by her sister, Kennetha (Randy) Vance; her special nephew, Dennis Ray Cooper; her 10 nieces and nephews, Kelly (Jay) Weitekamp, Kristen (Jason) Story, Joshua (Jessica) Vance, Roxanne (Louie) Wright, Carla (Mark) Weber, Nancy Sue (Kelly) Ray, Keena (Randy) Bumgardner, Kim (Ronnie) Gilliam,  Greg (Tammy) Denton, Kent (Jennifer) Cooper, Cynthia (Rick) Ashworth, and Tracy (Wayne) Clark;  along with several great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law and close friend, Debbie Cooper; along with her special cousin and close friend, Donna Holbrook.


In addition to her husband Lawton who passed in 2013, and her father Kenneth, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Hawkins and her nephew, Luke Hawkins.


The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Elizaville Christian Church with Pastor Aaron Arrasmith officiating.


Linda has requested that those attending to feel free wearing their UK colors.


Linda will be laid to rest in Hillsboro Cemetery.


Pallbearers include Jay Weitekamp, Jason Story, Joshua Vance, Louie Wright, Dennis Ray Cooper, and Keller Wright.  Honorary pallbearers include Arlene Shrout, Imogene Sorrell, Ruth Price, Debbie Sims, Etta Hay, Sandra Pelfrey, Bernice Stacy, Rob Ross, Mary L. Alderman, and Paula Hyatt.


Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Elizaville Christian located at 53 Hilltop Road, Ewing, Ky. 41039.
