IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
Walters
January 9, 1958 – January 12, 2024
Linda DeAtley Shields Walters of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, departed this life on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Ohio Health Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio after a valiant battle with cancer. Linda was born on January 9, 1958, to the late Anderson and Ruby Lucille Hunt DeAtley. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Larry Shields and Haskell Walters, Jr., two brothers, Sam DeAtley, and Bobby DeAtley, and Sam's wife, Sharon DeAtley.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Amy Shields (Jason) York and three grandchildren, Jace, Adrian, and Jenna York of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, three brothers, Jim (Bonnie) DeAtley of Hillsboro, KY, David (Anne) DeAtley of Muses Mills, KY, and Tim (Ava) DeAtley of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and a sister-in-law, Beverly DeAtley of Lewisburg, KY. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Although Linda struggled with cancer three different times in her life, she did not let cancer define her. She tenaciously adhered to life. She was a good worker in her profession, a proud mother to her daughter, and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren. Linda was an avid sports fan, rarely missing a Bengals or Browns game, even on the worst days of her illness. She enjoyed watching the news, watching westerns, gardening, and working in her yard.
Funeral services for Linda DeAtley Shields Walters will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Muses Mills Christian Church with Jared DeAtley officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Larry Shields, at the Newman Cemetery in Fleming County, Kentucky. The pallbearers will be her grandson, Jace York, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cancer Care Club (P O Box 189, Flemingsburg, KY 41041) and/or Hospice of Hope (909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056).
Visitation will be 12 noon, until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the church.
