Obituary

Lynn Gray Burke, age 92, widow of Gerald Watson Burke, of Ewing, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington surrounded by her family.


Lynn was born in Fleming County on November 4, 1933, to Roy Cooper and Alice Hood Gray.  She was a 1952 graduate of Fleming County High School, and she attended the University of Cincinnati.


Lynn was a homemaker, but in previous years had worked side by side with her husband as the owners of the local Sears Roebuck catalog store in Flemingsburg until they sold it in 1990.  At that time, Lynn opened her own floral design shop known as The Wash House, where she focused her energy and creativity on drying and arranging flowers for numerous families in the area.  Lynn was a member of the Ewing Christian Church, Fleming County Garden Club, Ewing Women's Club, and a devoted and long-time election poll worker in the Ewing precinct.  Her proudest recent moment was the opportunity to serve as the Grand Marshall for the 2025 Ewing-Fleming County Fair parade in Ewing.


She is survived by her loving family: daughter Gera Burke (Barney) King  of Phoenix, Arizona, grandson Hunter (Aimee) King of Phoenix Arizona, Austin (Suzanne) King of Phoenix, Arizona and Ali (Kevin) Fink of Austin, Texas; daughter Barbara Burke (Raymond) Williams of Ewing, grandson Jordan (Cassie) Williams of Ewing, granddaughter Whitney(Arol) Ordaz of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter Jan Burke (Larry) Ingram of Ewing, grandson Chris Ingram and Garrett (Cheryl) Ingram of Ewing; son Gerald Bradley (Tammy) Burke of Ewing, grandson Cody Burke (Jenna) of Frankfort, KY, granddaughter  Katie Moran (Logan) of Ewing; and eleven great grandchildren, Lily, Oliver, and Hazel of Phoenix, AZ, Hudson of Austin, Texas, Cooper, Bennett, and Isla, Sarah Jo, Joseph, Grayson, and Tucker of Ewing, Watson of Nashville, TN, Joanna Grace of Frankfort, KY and a step great granddaughter Aubree Lykins.  Also surviving is her brother John Gray of Virginia, and Sue Steffen of Kansas.


Lynn was the 5th of 12 children born to the late Roy C Gray, Sr, and Alice Kerr Hood Gray of Flemingsburg.  She was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Ann Thomas, Jane Gray Porter, Martha Curtis Gray "Honey" Prewitt, and Virginia Gray Forman, and brothers Roy Cooper Gray, Jr, Charles Hood Gray, James E. "Pete" Gray, Richard Patton Gray, and Roger Owen Gray.


Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, Monday, January 5th, 2026, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Ingram officiating.


Burial will be in the Elizaville Cemetery.


Pallbearers are Austin King, Jordan Williams, Chris Ingram, Garrett Ingram, Cody Burke, Arol Ordaz, and Logan Moran. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter King, Elzie Price, and John Gray.


Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 4th, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
