Obituary

PLEASE NOTE:  DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED

Lynne Hinton Collins, 81 years young, of Morehead, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Saint Claire Regional Medical Center from a long illness with her daughter by her side.  She was the widow of Bill Collins.

Lynne was born in Lexington Ky. on April 15, 1941, to the late E.C. "Enos" Hinton and the late Helen Hillis Hinton.

She grew up in Flemingsburg and graduated from Fleming County High School in 1959.  She then attended Morehead State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English and Latin, with honors.  After graduation, Lynne taught in Baltimore, Md., but then returned home to marry her sweetheart, Bill Collins.  Bill and Lynne were married on December 23, 1963, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church.  Lynne then went on to teach English at Fleming County High School until she retired in 1974 due to an illness.

Lynne enjoyed teaching and missed it so much.  Most of her students remembered her and remarked at what a good teacher she was.  Lynne loved to read and was a frequent patron of many libraries.  Lynne loved UK basketball as much as the next person, but she couldn't watch because it made her nervous.   Instead, she would cook and get a play by play from her husband Bill, who was often heard yelling from the front room of their home on the farm.  Later in life, Lynne loved to scrapbook and spend time with her cats and her daughter, Tracy.  Lynne was very funny, sweet, and a fighter.  Most people that met her through her illness remembered her.  She made many new friends at Saint Claire Regional Medical Center this way and her family is eternally grateful for them.

She is survived by her only child, Tracy Lynne Collins, who will miss her greatly.

Lynne was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of almost 35 years, and her parents E.C. and Helen.  She missed each of them dearly and is reunited with them again.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Shrout officiating.

Lynne will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery beside her husband Bill.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Boone-Nickell.
