Margaret Katherine "Kitty" Whisman Mitchell, 80, of Maysville, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center. She was the widow of Albert Wayne Mitchell.
Born in Nepton on October 24, 1943, her mother was the late Florence Jones Whisman and her father was the late Alvin Whisman.
Margaret worked alongside her husband as a farmer. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by four of her children, Dale Mitchell, Marsha (Richard) Mitchell, Teresa (Mitchell) Stamm, and Cathy Jacobs; her 11 grandchildren, Laura (Robert) Fite, Michelle (Jason) Workman, Brian Mitchell, Halley Stamm, Jesse Stamm, Timmy (Tammy) Jacobs, Katie Jacobs, Jessica Jacobs, Jonathan Ware, Samantha Ware, and Mitchell (Amber) Olson; her 15 great grandchildren, Matthew, Jaye, Joseph, Ava, Lilly, Jenny, Abby, Paisley, Rylie, Lexie, Auggie, Theresa, Marcella, Alistair, and Abel; and her sister, Barbara Marshall. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends and some special people that the family are very thankful to have their support and love during this time, Mark and Paula Wilson and Carrie Highlander.
In addition to Albert, her husband of 52 years who passed in 2013, and her parents Alvin and Florence, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Darrin Mitchell; and infant daughter, Tina Mitchell; her grandson, Christopher Mitchell; her son-in-law, Eddie Jacobs, and four of her siblings, Marilyn Tyree, Thomas Whisman, Linda Jackson, and Cecil Whisman.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Sister Paula Wilson officiating.
Margaret will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery next to her husband.
Pallbearers include Mitchell Olson, Matthew Hickerson, Robert Fite, Timmy Jacobs, Jason Workman, and Jaye Workman. Honorary pallbearers include Mark Wilson.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Tuesday at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
