Martha Curtis "Honey" Gray Prewitt, 86, of Flemingsburg, passed away at her farm home on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Born in Fleming County on July 26, 1938, her father was the late Roy Cooper Gray, Sr. and her mother was the late Alice Kerr Hood Gray.
Honey graduated from Fleming County High School, attended the University of Cincinnati, and went on to graduate from Morehead State University with a bachelor's and a master's in education.
She taught in elementary education in northern Kentucky and Fleming County, and English and Math at McNabb Middle School in Mount Sterling until her retirement when she returned to Fleming County to live on the family farm.
She showed many young ones the love and care of a horse through the 4-H program.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Fleming County Garden Club, Farm Bureau, Cattlemen's Association, and Kentucky Limousin Association.
Honey was a kind and loving woman who was a staunch Republican.
Honey is survived by three of her siblings, Lynn Gray Burke of Ewing, Sue Gray Steffens of Marysville, Kansas, and John Fielding Gray of Winchester, Virginia; her 17 nieces, Carla Grannis, Susan Gray, Nancy Greenwell, Sandy Gray Fisher, Kim Gray, Mary Forman Hamlet, Melissa Gray, Melanie Gray, Heather Gray, Barbie Williams, Jan Ingram, Gera King, Keri Kline, Vickie Gray, Tina Gray, Jennifer Gray Mann, and Michelle Gray Dillon; her 12 nephews, Roy C. Gray III, Steve Gray, David Gray, John Gray Jr., Brad Burke, Bob Porter, Dr. Jim Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Mike Forman, Mark Forman, George Forman and Patrick Gray; along with many great nieces, great nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her mother Alice Kerr and her father Roy, Honey was preceded in death by eight of her siblings, Elizabeth Ann Thomas, Jane Porter, Virginia Forman, Roy Cooper Gray Jr., Charles Hood Gray, James Everett "Pete" Gray, Roger Owens Gray, and Richard Patton Gray.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral with Bro. Larry Ingram officiating.
Honey will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Brad Burke, David Gray, George Forman, Mark Forman, Mike Forman, and John Gray, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Roy C. Gray III, Steve Gray, Patrick Gray, and Bob Porter.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
