Martha Skaggs LaMar, 84, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville. She was the widow of Tommy LaMar.
Born in Elliott County on July 4, 1941, Martha was the daughter of the late George Skaggs and the late Cynthia Ball Skaggs.
Martha had worked as a cook for the Fleming County Hospital for 14 years with an assistant dietician certification. She had also worked for US Shoe and the Family Shoe Store. She enjoyed all types of puzzles and was a fantastic cook and baker. Her church family was something she was very passionate about and adored her grandchildren. She was a member of the New Life Church of Christ.
She is survived by her three children, Eddie (Randall Bishop) LaMar of Fort Lauderdale, Fla, Debbie Ramey of Flemingsburg, and Cindy (Tony) Armstrong of Flemingsburg; her two grandchildren, Alex Armstrong and Seth (Micaela) Ramey; her two great grandchildren, Carter and Cooper; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to Tommy, her husband of 53 years who passed in 2013; her mother Cynthia; and her father George; Martha was preceded in death by her three siblings, Junior Skaggs, Hazel Doyle, and Mattie Lancaster.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Collinsworth and Bro. Randy Fritz officiating.
Martha will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Alex Armstrong, Seth Ramey, Shelby Hall, David Hunt, Isaac Sapp and Keith Lytle.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. on Monday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
In place of flowers please consider a donation in memory of Martha to the Hospice of Hope Care Center .
