Edna "Mary Lou" Perkins, 92, of Ewing, Kentucky passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Robertson County Health Care Facility in Mount Olivet, Ky. She was the widow of William "Bill" Morgan Perkins.
Born in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 1933, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Edna Taylor Brophy and the late Edward Joseph Brophy.
Mary Lou attended an all-girls Catholic school in Washington D.C., and went on to work as a secretary for the Unites States Justice Department where she met her future husband while he was serving in the Marines. They resided in Maryland for many years and eventually moved to Ewing, Ky. where Bill was born and raised. They were married for 62 years.
Mary Lou was a longtime, active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Flemingsburg, Ky.
Mary Lou is survived by her eight children, Tim (Debbie) Perkins, Billy (Melanie) Perkins, Mike (Christie) Perkins, Jeff (Kim) Perkins, Polly (Donnie) McCord, Matthew (Cindy) Perkins, James (Misty) Perkins, and Nathaniel "Ted" (Lori) Perkins. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, Eric Sparks, Owen Perkins, Travis Perkins, Ryan Perkins, Tyler Perkins, Madison Perkins, Jenna Perkins Doyle, Julie Perkins, Justin McCord, Lauren Howard, Stephanie Perkins, Brian Perkins, Natalie Perkins, Andrew Perkins, Benjamin Perkins, and Shawn Perkins; her 10 great grandchildren, Layla Perkins, Emeri Perkins, Boone Perkins, Abby Perkins, Jake Perkins, Will Perkins, Eliza Doyle, Clay McCord, Josie McCord, and Sullivan Perkins. In addition, Mary Lou is survived by her sister and best friend whom she loved dearly and spoke to daily, Donna R. Day of Chicago, Ill., her brother, Donald J. Brophy of Maryland; her sister-in-law, Brenda Perkins; her dear special friend, Jackie Kirby; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her husband Bill who passed in 2017, her mother Edna, and her father Edward, Mary Lou was preceded in death by two of her siblings, Joseph Edward Brophy and Frederick Charles Brophy; and her special dear friend, Jan Halleran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Fr. Phil DeVous as celebrant.
Mary Lou will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include her 16 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9 a.m., until the hour of service at 10 a.m., May 28, at the church located at 211 Mount Carmel Avenue, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
