Obituary

Mary Mildred McCarty Peratt, 82 , of Tilton, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at her home after an extended illness.


Born on March 10, 1935, in Mount Sterling, KY, she was the daughter of the late John Gordon and Ada Golden McCarty.


Mary was a hardworking homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling and enjoyed going to the local senior center. She was a member of and attended the Flemingsburg Christian Church and had attended Tilton Christian Church with her late husband. In 1952 she was chosen as the Blackberry Festival Queen of Nicholas County. She enjoyed listening to music at Fox Valley campground.


Mary is survived by her sons, Danny Peratt and Gordon Peratt; her daughter, Phyllis and husband Tim Ritchie all of Flemingsburg; her granddaughter, Megan Ritchie; her sister, Dolly Lyons of Moorefield; as well as several nieces and nephews.


Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Monroe "Buddy" Peratt who passed away May 1, 2005. She was also preceded by her brothers, Arlie McCarty, W.D. McCarty and Charles McCarty; and her sister, Nancye Davis.


Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m.., Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Flemingsburg Christian Church with Rev. Peter Morgan and Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery.


Visitation will be at the Flemingsburg Christian Church on Tuesday, March 28, from 5-8pm.


Boone-Nickell Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
