Joseph Michael "Mike" Maher, 71, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at Fleming County Hospital.
Born in Maysville on October 8, 1952, his father was the late Francis "Frank" Maher and his mother was the late Bonnie Evans Maher.
Mike was a self-employed contractor. He attended the Foxport Baptist Church. His grandchildren would like everyone to know that he was, "not just our papaw, he's been the community's papaw - always at ball games, no matter who was playing".
Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice Roberts Maher; four of his children, Todd (Tonya) Maher, Joseph Kelly Maher, Jessica (Johnathan) Everman, and Marsha (Chris) Hunt. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, Darrin (Brandi) Brooks, Ciera (Brandon) Moran, Derrick (Madison) Brooks, Drew (Kelsie) Brooks, Rosie Hunt, Mason Maher, Erin (Logan) Hester, Morgan Mason, Jonathan (Jenna) Maher, Jacob Mason, Nathan Maher, Maggie Mason, Matthew Maher, and Leah Maher, Emily Everman, Elijah Everman, and Easton Everman; his seven great grandchildren, Karter and Kanten Moran, Bentley, Gunnar, Isabella, Colton and Wrenley Brooks: his two siblings, John (Sue) Maher and Jim (Mary) Maher; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents Bonnie and Frank, Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Geneva Christina Maher.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Meadows officiating.
Mike will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jonathan Maher, Mason Maher, Darrin Brooks, Derrick Brooks, Drew Brooks, Brandon Moran, Jacob Mason, and Logan Hester. Honorary pallbearers include David Maher, Billy Dryden, Billy Bradford, Rob Maher, Steve Maher, and Gene Schadle.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
In place of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mike Maher Memorial Fund at Peoples Bank in Flemingsburg.
