Obituary

Minnie Mildred Dunaway Faris, 98, of Plummers Landing, passed away Friday April 4, 2014 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.


Minnie was born April 1, 1916, in Muses Mills KY, to the late Dallas and Osa Bell Hurst Dunaway.


Minnie will long be remember for her love of cooking and her famous cinnamon rolls. She had retired from Ward Elementary after 23 years as a cook and had worked at the sewing factory in Flemingsburg. Minnie had received several awards for her community service from the Muses Mills Fire Department, Campbell Mountain Girl Scout Camp and Mt. Vernon Campground. Minnie loved to garden, listen to gospel music and was a talented quilter donating over 20 handmade quilts to different groups for auctions and raffles. Minnie especially loved her family and spending time with all of them along with friends. In the past few years she loved to sit in her recliner in the sunroom of her daughter's home and look at the vast beauty of the countryside. Minnie was a long time member of Ramey's Chapel Methodist Church in Muses Mills.


She was preceded in death by her husband Dunbar Faris, son James D. Faris and 3 grandchildren Rocky and Bobby Faris and Donna Hurst, sister Christine Dunaway and brothers Estill, Clyde, Mefford, Oscar, Jesse, Clayton, Roy and Jamie Dunaway.


Survivors include her children Johnny Faris, Robert (Jennie) Faris and Caroline (Bob) Maddox all of Fleming County; grandchildren Robbie (Marcy) Faris, Mitchell Faris, Laura (Shane) Wallingford; great grandchildren Tanner, Brady, Phillip, Travis, Cody, Shane, Emily, Jessica and Justin and 7 great great grandchildren; sister Maxine (Jack) Horstein.


Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday April 8. 2014 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Jesse Hickerson and Rev. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Goddard Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 - 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Russie Dunaway, Charles Carver, Elzie Price, Eddie Ward, Billy Ingram, Kermit Gulley, Sam Little and Donnie Kerns.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ramey's Chapel Methodist Church (C/O Joetta Marshall 1633 Taylor Mill Road, Flemingsburg, KY 41041)
