Nellie Arlene Simmons Martin, 78, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.
Born in Fleming County on November 4, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Glinna Mae Nickels Simmons and the late Lewis Franklin Simmons.
Nellie was a wonderful, loving mother. She worked for Flemingsburg Dry Cleaners, the Sundry Store, and Ames. She was also a farmer.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Teri (Dan) Reeder; her son, Jeff (Teresa) Martin; her seven grandchildren, Zachary Reeder, Winston (Leila) Reeder, Chad Martin, Lyndsey (Chad) Baker, Elizabeth (Tim) Medwid, Emily (Dylan) Earls, and Josh Hester; and her nine great grandchildren, Rylee Martin, Noah Medwid, Nicholas Medwid, Gaberiel Medwid, Tristan Earls, Samuel Baker, Elliott Baker, Gracie Bakers, and Jaxston Perry. She is also survived by three of her brothers, Elwood (Marcie Marie) Simmons, Donald Simmons, and Lewis (Marcie) Simmons; one of her sisters, Ada (Paul) Ford; her sister-in-law, Jean Simmons; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her sister, Litha Alice Lytle; and her brother, Albert Simmons.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2023, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Darren Fizer officiating.
Nellie will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Matt Mers, Zach Reeder, Winston Reeder, Chad Martin, Rick Souder, Jimmy Simmons, Paul Simmons, Robbie Bailey, Rob Reeder, and Clay Reeder. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Cannon, Roger Hedger, Scotty Perkins, Barry Million, Mark Henderson, David Arrasmith, and Greg Arrasmith.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at Boone-Nickell.
