Obituary

Norma Joyce Maxey Ritchie, age 79, of Flemingsburg, KY, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at her home with her family by her side.

Mrs. Ritchie was born in Ewing on November 12, 1935 to the late Clarence and Ethel Graves Maxey.

Norma married David Ritchie on January 14, 1951. She was a secretary and part owner of Dave's Inc. for 55 years. Norma had been a member of Flemingsburg Christian Church since 1947, in 1988 she was elected a Deacon becoming the first woman to hold that title, and in 2005 she was made a Deacon Emeritus. Norma was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Homemakers.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dave Ritchie; a daughter, Patricia (Charles) Colgan; a son, Tim (Phyllis) Ritchie, both of Flemingsburg, KY; grandchildren, David (Heather) Kegley of Winchester, KY, Angie (Jeff) Helterbrand and Megan Ritchie of Flemingsburg, KY; great grandchildren, Justin Helterbrand and Mackenzie Kegley. She leaves a sister, Martha (Bob) Applegate of Mt. Carmel, KY; sister-in-law, Dolly Ritchie, Rosemary Ritchie and Diane Ritchie of Cynthiana, KY; brothers-in-law, Randall Ritchie of Carlisle, KY, and Jim Allen of Winchester, KY. She leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews and a special care giver, Joyce Moore, of Maxey Flats, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Billy Maxey.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church with the Rev. Peter Morgan and Bro. Jesse Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Friday at the church.

Larry Foxworthy, Harry Foxworthy, Max Gilkerson, Charles Glascock, Gerald Meadows, David Kegley, Jeff Helterbrand and Justin Helterbrand will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Angie Helterbrand, Megan Ritchie, Heather Kegley, Mackenzie Kegley, Joyce Moore, Sonia Leet, and Wanda McKee.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Flemingsburg Christian Church (201 E. Water St. Flemingsburg, KY 41041) or Hospice of Hope (909 Kenton Station Dr. Maysville, KY 41059).
