Obituary

Oliva Fant "Sally" Smith Brown, 90, of Flemingsburg, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.


Sally was born June 25, 1926 in Craintown to the late Roy and Maggie Corbin Smith.


Sally was a loving mother to her five children W.T. Brown, Bill (Laura) Brown, Steve (Karen) Brown, Linda (Don Jr.) Edmond and Betsy (Tony) Case all of Fleming County. A beloved grandmother to Melynda (Brett) Lacy, Kara (Alan) Brown, Tricia (Clay) Coston, Dean (Myrtle) Edmond, Brian (Lora) Edmond, Michael (Stephanie) Edmond, Julie Adams, Jeremy (Denise) Brown, Jody (Trisha Moore) Brown, Rian (Joy) Brown Justin (Carey) Brown, Andrew (Traci) Fryman, Laura (Brad) Galbreath, Dabney Crawford and Paige Crawford, Anthony, Chris and Brandon Case. A great grandmother to Aaron, Victoria, Justin, Jacqui, Tyler, Jeffrey, Bradley, Michaela and Megan Edmond, Hayden Lacy, Zachary, Sady, Casey, Hadlee and Quinn Brown; David Adams; Waysen Fryman; Riley & Violet Coston; Kiera Cagle, 4 step great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother Henry Howard "Dover" (Juanita) Smith


Sally was preceded in death by her husband Glen Thomas Brown in 2003, in infancy twin grandsons George William and Danny Lee Edmond and a daughter-in-law Patricia Brown.


Sally was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who adored her family. Sally had worked at Flemingsburg Elementary School for 10 years as a teacher's aide and was homemaker and farmers wife for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Fleming County Homemakers, quilting club, Bernie Archdeacon Support Group, historical society; and had been an avid supporter of the 4-H Club helping many young people with cooking and sewing skills. She was a member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church.


Funeral services will be at 1 pm Wednesday February 15, 2017 at the Flemingsburg Christian Church with Rev. Peter Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery.


Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Tuesday at the church.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Flemingsburg Christian Church (201 East Water Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041), Elizaville Christian Church (1872 Mockingbird Hill, Flemingsburg, KY 41041) or Hospice of Hope (909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056).
