Olive Ruth "Ruthie" Goodpaster, 86, of Winston-Salem, NC, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in her home.

She was born in Flemingsburg, KY on September 8, 1930 and was the daughter of the late William Mitchell Runyon and Minnie Doyle Runyon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Goodpaster and her son, Danny Runyon Goodpaster.

Ruthie graduated from Fleming County High School in 1948, and she spent her life helping others, whether through coaching the local cheerleading squad, working in the bank, or working in university registrar's offices.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dr. Lee Goodpaster Knight and her son-in-law, Raymond Allen Knight, Esq.; her granddaughter, Kelly Knight Holder, Esq. and her grandson-in-law, John Van Holder III; her sister, Marian Runyon Marshall; and numerous other beloved family and friends.

Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041. A celebration of Ruthie's life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016, also at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Olive Ruth Goodpaster to Flemingsburg Christian Church, 201 East Water Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041.
