Patrick DeWayne "Pat" Grimes, 48, of Ewing, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Saint Joseph in Lexington.
Pat was born March 10, 1967, in Lexington, a son of Wayne and Patty McIntyre Grimes.
Pat was a parts specialist for the Transportation Cabinet District 9 for 18 years and worked at NAPA for 8 years. He was a loving husband and father, who loved life and had a laugh and sense of humor that was infectious to those around him. He loved his church the Flemingsburg Church of the Nazarene where he was a board member and the sound technician.
Pat is survived by his wife of 18 years, Janet Newsom Grimes; son, Nathaniel Patrick Grimes; daughters, Kassie Jade Grimes and Bethany Nicole "Nikki" Grimes; his parents, Wayne and Patty; brother, Kash Grimes; aunts and uncles, Teresa (Tommy) Riddle, Alma Grimes and Brenda Sue Heminger; cousins, Travis (Mara) Earlywine, Trent (Dorothy) Earlywine, Trina (Cody) Adams, Greg (Kathleen) Grimes, Mark (Lisa) Grimes, Matt (Angela) Grimes, Melissa (Rick) Newsom, Chris (Paula) Applegate, Angie Crawford, Jamie Applegate; mother & father-in-law, Tom & Velma Newsom; sister-in-law, Melinda (Martin) Wisecup; nephews, Michael and Mason Wisecup.
Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents, William "Dockie" and Oakel McIntyre and Edward Lawson Grimes, Christine Leet Ruark; and uncle, Gerald Grimes.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday Jan. 12, 2016, at the Flemingsburg Church of The Nazarene (96 Secrest Crossing, Flemingsburg) with Pastor Lyle Hamilton, Bro. Greg Grimes and Rev. Jerry Boling officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery (Mt. Tabor Cemetery). Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home and Tuesday from 7-9 a.m. at the funeral home and 10-11 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
