Mervin Isaiah "Perky" Masters, 81, of Flemingsburg, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, among family and friends by his side at Maysville Extended Care. He was the widower of Theresa Gwendolyn Blake Masters.
Born in Fleming County on November 12, 1943, Perky was the son of the late Early Robert Masters and the late Beulah Thompson Masters.
Perky was a lifelong farmer who was dedicated to his community and lived in Fleming County all of his life with his wife Theresa who passed in August of 2020.
Perky had Perky's Chevron, a full service gas station in Flemingsburg. He had helped a lot of people out during the blizzard of January 1978. He ran Martha Mills Gun Club. He drove a dump truck in his younger years and helped build Cave Run Lake Dam. He was the owner and operator of M & M Traywashers. He was a big supporter of youth in hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. He thoroughly enjoyed camping in a bus with the guys in Robertson County and also on his side by side with his dog, Creamy. In his free time, he was well known at the Farmers Stockyard in his spot at the Liars Table.
He is survived by his only son, Dennis Scott Masters and wife Mary; his grandson, Isaiah Scott Masters and wife Laken; his granddaughter, Sabrina Masters Bailey and husband Justin; his five great grandchildren, Charlee Rose, Wilson Scott Masters, Esmae Johnson, Temperance Bailey, and Serenity Bailey. Perky is also survived by his sister-in-law, Martha Masters; a special friend that helped him a lot, Paul Hunt; and his faithful canine companion, Creamy; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his wife Theresa and his parents, Perky was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Masters.
