Nina “Phyllis” Montgomery went home to be with her Lord and savior on Tuesday April 2, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born in Lewis County on September 27, 1938, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Vinard and Anna White. She lived a life rooted in love, strength, and devotion to his family and God.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Russell Montgomery, three brothers Willard White, Harry White and Don White, as well as three sisters Lena Lay, Ruby Doyle, and Norma Mason.

Phyllis is survived by four sons Rick Montgomery, Timothy (Debbie) Montgomery, Russell (Teresa) Montgomery, and Robert (Sharon) Montgomery. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.

Phyllis held various jobs over her lifetime but her most rewarding was that of being a loving wife and mother of which she never retired from. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Victory Assembly of God in Flemingsburg, KY and Happy Gospel Church in Bradenton, FL.

A celebration of Phyllis life will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday April 9, 2026, at Boone Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Joseph officiating.

Phyllis will be laid to rest in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery

Pallbearers include Rick Montgomery, Tim Montgomery, Rusty Montgomery, Robert Montgomery, Josh Montgomery, and Dally Doyle. Honorary pallbearers include Rex White, Ron Shannon and Harold Montgomery.

Visitation will be 11a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
