Randall Lee "Randy" Skaggs, 67, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at his residence.
Born in Lexington on July 8, 1956, his father is Leonidas "L.C." Skaggs and his mother was the late Sara Beth Porter Skaggs.
Randy had worked on the riverboat for Ashland Oil had also worked for Irby Construction. He retired from Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) after 19 years of service. He was a Kentucky Colonel and also a member of the NRA. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a youth coach for various sports and was a videographer for the middle school and high school football and basketball. He loved his children and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail Shepperson Skaggs; his four children, James Randall Skaggs (fiancée, Diane Annie), Jonathan Lee Skaggs (Jessica Hudspeth), Cody Jagiello (husband, Michael), and Daniel Hardin. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Allison Skaggs (fiancée, Jacob Taylor), Jaylen Lee Skaggs, Aubrey Skaggs, Harper Skaggs, Little John Skaggs, Laura Hardin, Ethan Hardin, Logan Hardin, Melody Hardin, Anu Walker, Kai Walker, Jessica Fulmer, and Jeremy Fulmer. In addition, he is survived by his two siblings, William (Lynda) Skaggs and Gregory Allen Skaggs; along with many extended family members and friends.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Sister Gail Skaggs officiating.
Randy will be laid to rest in Locust Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Mark Hardymon, Terry Hall, Mike King, Ricky Lewis, Dudley Shepperson, and Frankie Vice. Honorary pallbearers include Lyle Dorsey.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
In place of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Randy to the funeral home to offset expenses.
