Raymond D. Carpenter, 89, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.

Raymond was born February 2, 1928, in Fleming County, the only child of Curtis E. and Jeanette James Carpenter.

Raymond was a lifelong farmer and a self employed entrepreneur here in Fleming County. He was a member of Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church for 70 years.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Jean Sapp Carpenter; sons, Terry (Rita) Carpenter and Tommy (Cheryl) Carpenter all of Flemingsburg; stepchildren, Sonny (Kristi) Sapp of Reynoldsburg, OH and Vicki Lynn Gray of Dayton, OH; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 12 step-great grandchildren, 10 step- great great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Beatrice Hawkins; and his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Lambert, Rev. Randy Coy, and Rev. Ben Crain officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 – 1 p.m., Thursday, at the church.
