Obituary

Rebecca Gray Ecton Campbell, was born to the union of Herod Ecton and Ora Vivian Turner Ecton on October 31, 1929, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.  She was a descendant of Meshack and America Story.  Rebecca departed this earthly life on the evening of Monday, April 21, 2025.


Rebecca accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Strawberry United Methodist Church in Flemingsburg.  She married Harry L. Campbell to whom she was blessed with three children, Mary Alice, Julia Ann, and Harry Lee.


Rebecca loved being the "Neighborhood Granny".  She loved spending time with each and every one of them.  She was a member of the United Methodist Women's organization, choir, and Board of Trustees.  She worked for Dr. Allen, Pioneer Trace Nursing Home, McDonald's and she loved being a foster grandparent.    She loved having family around her.


Rebecca leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Mary Alice (Rodney) Cosby; her daughter-in-law, Linda Campbell; her 10 grandchildren Tony Campbell, Chris (Kym) Campbell, Alex Campbell, Sirreah Meade, James Campbell, Jasmine Campbell, Estell (Bryant) Chappell, Joi Cosby, Rodney Cosby Jr., and Antonio Cosby; her 48 great grandchildren; her 38 great, great grandchildren; her two very special grandsons, Weylin and Tyus; along with her several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.


In addition to her husband  Harry, her mother Ora, and her father Herod, Rebecca was preceded in death by her son, Harry; her daughter, Julia Ann; her three sisters, Dorothy Turner, Mary Henry, and Fannie Jones; her four brothers, John "Jim", Clarence "Pete", Tommy "Charles", and James "Joe"; and her grandson, Jeremy Jackson.


The funeral service for Rebecca will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church with Rev. Randy Taylor and Rev. Alex Campbell officiating.


Honorary Pallbearers include Chan Graham, Gary Saunders, Mondre Saunders, Douglas Holman, Carlos Campbell, Ashley Graham, Gabe Lofton, Lucas Pinkley, Craig Lofton, Jordon Luna, and Nick Stuter.


Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the service at 1 p.m., Monday, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church located at 201 East Water Street, Flemingsburg, Kentucky 41041.
