Rev. George
Sloan
Rev. George Edward Sloan, 90, of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center. He was the recent widower of Georgia Sloan.
Born in Sharonville, Ohio on May 17, 1935, he was a son of the late George Washington Sloan and the late Dorothy Chamberlain Sloan.
On September 15, 1952, George became a Christian at the age of 17. He went on to join the ministry in 1964, pastoring the Kentucky Christian Holiness Church in Flemingsburg for 26 years. He would go on to pastor the Globe Christian Holiness Church and on to the Poplar Plains Christian Holiness Church where he would retire from the ministry. During those years he performed many weddings, spoke at many funerals, and held many revivals, and had also served as the president of the Kentucky Christian Holiness Conference. He along with his wife were co-owners of Sloan’s Paint and Wallpaper for 46 years.
George is survived by his three children, Crystal (Pat) Doyle of Flemingsburg, George E. “Jay” (Betty) Sloan, Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., and Harold (Melanie) Sloan of Cincinnati, Ohio; his six grandchildren, Nathan Johnson, Tiffany Collins, Trace Sloan, Lilly Sloan, Joshua Sloan, and Jared Sloan; and his eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by five of his siblings, Donnie, Ricky, Melinda, Patty, and Joyce; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Georgianna “Georgia” Rascov Sloan who passed recently on March 21, 2026. In addition to his mother Dorothy and his father George, he was preceded in death by four of his siblings, Shirley, June, Roger, and Gwen.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Kentucky Christian Holiness Church with Rev. Jay Sloan and Rev. Clint Stricklen officiating.
George will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Evan Johnson, David Collins, Jared Sloan, Nathan Johnson, Harold Sloan, and Pat Doyle. Honorary pallbearers include Josh Sloan, Trace Sloan, and Hoppy Himes.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Monday, at the church located at 130 Foster Street, Flemingsburg, Kentucky 41041.
