Richard W. Clark, 71, of Maysville, formerly of Mount Carmel, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019, at his residence. He was surrounded by his wife and loving children as he left his earthly home to join his Lord and Savior in his new heavenly home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was the youngest son of the late Dallas Rigdon Clark and the late Lydia Weaver Dorsey Clark.
Richard was a supervisor for 39 years at Emerson and later worked part-time as a truck driver for five years at Toyo Seat. His greatest achievement and proudest honor was the four years he spent in the United States Army along with the 32 years he spent in the Army Reserves.
He leaves behind the love of his life and his caregiver, Melissa Ison Clark; his son, Richard Aaron Clark at home; his daughters, Rhonda (Ashley) Black and Monica (Brian) Story, both of Flemingsburg; his grandchildren, Ryan (Keelia) Reed of Hillsboro, Lee (Jennifer) Sutton of Bracken County, and Amber Meadows of Florence; his great grandchildren, Casen, Jayde, Mia Reed, Jaxon Sutton, plus another to arrive in December. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Linda) Dorsey of Flemingsburg, his sisters-in-law, Brenda Clark of Loveland, OH and Kaye Dorsey of FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dallas Lee Clark, Ronnie Clark, and Bob Dorsey.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, at New Life Church of Christ with Bro. Billy Newton and Bro. Darren Fizer officiating.
Richard will be laid to rest in Wedonia Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Pallbearers include Kenny Souder, Ronnie Knapp, Ryan Reed, Jerry Alexander, Eugene Strode, Lee Sutton, Brian Story, and Ashley Black. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Sanders and Bobby McGinnis.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, at the church located at 374 Helena Road, Flemingsburg, KY.
In place of flowers, donations are suggested to the family to help offset medical expenses incurred during Richard's illness.
