Robert Maurice Colgan, age 89, formerly of High Ridge Drive in Flemingsburg and Maxey Flat in Hillsboro, KY., died at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio on February 11, 2012 with his family at his side. Mr. Colgan was born in Fleming County on July 24, 1922, to the late Robert and Mitchell James Colgan. Mr. Colgan was a machinist before his retirement and was a World War II Veteran. He was a deacon and active member of the Unity Baptist Church in Flemingsburg, KY
In addition to his parents, Mr. Colgan was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Royse Colgan, 2 Brothers Thomas and Billy Colgan and his sister, Elsie Colgan Fleming.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Wagner of Marion, Ohio, his grandson Michael Wagner of Columbus, Ohio and his granddaughter, Amanda Wagner of Washington, D.C., and his brother Gene (Wilma) Colgan of Fayetteville, N.C.. He is also survived by his niece, Jacqueline Storey of Flemingsburg, as well as several other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be at 11AM Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Walton officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Wednesday at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
