Roger Allen Hester, 74, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owingsville. He was the widower of Bonnie Jo Barker-Hester.
Born in Maysville at Hayswood Hospital on May 27, 1951, Roger was the son of the late Clayton Emerson Hester and the late Wilma Jean Doyle Hester.
He had worked as a machine operator at U. S. Shoe Corp/ Nine West for 29 ½ years and as a forklift operator at Family Dollar Distribution Center for 13 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gulley and husband Kenney of Mount Sterling; his son, Brian (Danielle) Hester of Owingsville; his three grandchildren, Ben Gulley of Fort Myers, Fla., Abigail Thompson and husband James of Mount Sterling, and Claire Gulley of Memphis, Tenn.; his two step grandsons, Skyler Muse and Malachi Muse; and one great granddaughter, Ronan Thompson. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Dale (Kim) Hester, Mary Butcher, and Daryl (Sherry) Hester; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his wife Bonnie (who passed in 2021); his mother Jean; and his father Clayton; Roger was preceded in death by his infant brothers, Gary Ray Hester and Robert Morris Hester; and his brother-in-law, Steve Butcher.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Murphy officiating.
Roger will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Brian Hester, Kenney Gulley, Ben Gulley, Daryl Hester, Cody Hester, & Justin Hester. Honorary pallbearers include Dale Hester, Jack Smalley, Jared Hester, Abigail Thompson, and Claire Gulley.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
