Ronald Dean Lamar, 64, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at his home.

Born in Fleming County on February 7, 1961, he was the son of the late Jim Prater and the late Elizabeth Lamar Brown.

Ron was a lifelong mechanic, having worked at Eldridge Brothers, Emery Fields Garage, and Cheap Chevrolet.  If your vehicle was sick, Ron was the man to see.  He loved boating and spending time at the cabin at Cave Run with his wife.  He loved time spent with his uncle, Ernest Prater, working on the farm.  He was a big deer hunter who looked forward to November and deer season.  Ron was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Foxport.

Ron is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Anna "Ann" Bryant Helphenstine Lamar, who married him on June 28, 1985.  He is also survived by his special uncle, Ernest Prater, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his mother Elizabeth and his father Jim, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Becky Burton

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, with Bro. Tom Mitchell officiating.

Ron will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include Norman Bryant II, Josh Bryant, Christian Bryant, Jonathan Bryant, Joel Barnard, and Todd Duff.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Monday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
