Ronald Ray Litton, 87, of Flemingsburg, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Born in Elliott County on January 3, 1939, he was the son of the late Ray Litton and the late Iola Horton Litton. Iola sadly passed away during childbirth, but when Ray married again a few years later Alice Emmons Litton lovingly raised Ronald as her own, along with their son, Ricky Litton.
As a young man he learned how to work and the value of work from Raymond Carpenter on his farm. He worked at the Cut Rate Market with his father Ray and his uncle, Horace Horton. He had Perfect Attendance in Sunday School for over nine years and he played trumpet in the high school band and was a Boy Scout. Ronald graduated from Fleming County High School and attended Morehead State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He repaired office machines for a company in Lexington and then served as Personnel Manager for Randall Textron of Flemingsburg. At that time he started working for Litton Ford where he worked for over 50 years selling cars and trucks. He was not a flashy man but when he said something you could believe it, which made him a trusted car salesman. He was an active member of the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church as long as his health allowed.
Ronald, Ronnie, and Ron were all names he answered to, but “Dad” and “Daddy” were the ones he treasured. Although his first marriage ended in divorce, it blessed him with a daughter, Lorrie Lee Litton Plummer, and a granddaughter, Sierra Litton.
In 1965 Ronald married the love of his life, Mary Jo Dixon Litton. They had many joyous years together.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo Dixon Litton; his daughter, Lorrie (Tom) Plummer of Dover, Delaware; his son, Ron Jr. (Marsha) Litton of Lexington; his daughter Jenifer (Chris) Mitchell of Flemingsburg; his three grandchildren, Megan Mitchell, Maria Mitchell, and Sierra Litton; along with his special Aunt Anita Curtis and his caregiver Janie Applegate and many other extended family members and friends.
In addition to his mother Iola, his father Ray, and his mother Alice, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Litton.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Coy officiating.
Ronald will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Trey Litton, Glen Arnold, Tony McGlone, Ed Gibson, Chuck Gibson, and Franklin Gibson. Honorary pallbearers include Janie Applegate, Jim McClure, Dr. Glenn Womack, Terry Hurst, Tony Kinder, Linda Manning, Jim Rogers, and Sheldon Litton.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at the church located at 117 West Main Street, Flemingsburg, Kentucky 41041.
Boone-Nickell Funeral Home is caring for Ronald and his family.
