Ronald Joe "Ron" Mason, 85, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Mason County on July 3, 1941, Ron was the son of the late Alvin Roscoe Mason and the late Christine Strode Mason.

Ron spent many years behind the wheel of a semi, traveling the highways and seeing much of the country throughout his career. Known over the CB radio by his handle, “Coyote,” Ron made countless miles and memories on the road. When he wasn't behind the wheel of a truck, one of his greatest passions was his Mustangs. He loved his cars and enjoyed taking them to car shows and spending time with others who shared his love of automobiles.

Ron will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, Papaw, brother, and friend. Above all, his family was an important part of his life, and the love, memories, stories, and lessons he leaves behind will continue through the generations of his family.

Ron is survived by his seven children, Sandra Mason, Robbie and Teresa Mason, Rhonda and Dave Wilson, Rod and Sonda Mason, Ross and Kathy Mason, Jay and Katie Mason, and Cody and Traci Mason.  He was a proud and loving Papaw to 19 grandchildren,  Tyler Shrout, Sabrah Shrout Pfeffer, Savanna Pratt, Sawyer Mason, Brandon Mason, Bobbi Mason, Tabitha Wilson, Ryan Mason, Cameron Mason, Koltan Mason, Josh Mason, Austin Mason, Matthew Mason, Jaden Arrasmith, Xavier Mason, Gunnar Mason, Richard Mason, Emma Mason, and Cooper Mason.  Ron was  blessed with many great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy and added another generation to the family he loved so dearly.  He is also survived by his sister, Patty Friend.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Carol Adams Mason; his brother, Alvin Roscoe Mason Jr.; and his sister, Evelyn Johnson.

The funeral service  for  Ron will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2026, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.

Ron will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Tyler Shrout, Ryan Mason, Cameron Mason, Koltan Mason, Jaden Arrasmith, Xavier Mason, Gunnar Mason, Richard Mason and Sawyer Sutherland Moon Mason.  Honorary pallbearers include Cooper Mason, Emma Mason, and Brandon Mason.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 16, at Boone-Nickell, located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
