Samuel Ray "Sam" McRoberts, 81, of Wallingford, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Muses Mill on August 16, 1942, he was the son of Margaret Hinton McRoberts and the late Willis McRoberts.
Sam was a loving husband, father, and son. He was a farmer who enjoyed gardening and for 38 years he worked at Local 2 Ohio Valley Union of Carpenters. In his last few months, Sam enjoyed spending time with his canine companion, Foxy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Spradlin McRoberts; his mother Margaret; his four children, Kelly (Kyle Archer) McRoberts, Scott (Tracy Huff) McRoberts, Sherri (Tom) Duncan, and Deyana (Jimmy) Crawford; his nine grandchildren, Brandon (Saprina Pettit) McRoberts, Dustin (B.J. Fannin) McRoberts, Samantha (Phillip Fitch) Duncan, Kayla (Bubby) Pollitt, Shawn (Kristen) Duncan, Aaron Harmon, Andrew (Janie Vaughn) Harmon, Tiffany (James Helterbrand) Shrout, and Zachary Edmond. He is also survived by 10 of his great grandchildren, Justin Burton, Austin McRoberts, Hailey McRoberts, Ava Pollitt, Adeline Pollitt, Cameron Pollitt, Kyleigh Terell, Ethan Thompson, Remington Thompson, and Logan Helterbrand; his sister, Debra Thompson; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father Willis, Sam was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Lynn McRoberts; and one of his great grandchildren, Carson Pollitt.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Muses Mills Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
