Harley Samuel "Sammy" Reeves, 77, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Saint Claire Regional Medical Center, with his loving family at his side.
Born in Goddard on December 8, 1946, his mother was the late Dorothy McKee Reeves, and his father was the late Woodrow Wilson Reeves.
Sammy loved the outdoors and worked for the Fleming County Road Department, was a farmer, handyman, and had his own landscaping business in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina, for 20 years. In North Carolina, he was known for his beautiful flower gardens and landscape designs. Upon retirement, he returned to Fleming County and volunteered his talents and many hours of service to the beautification of the Goddard Cemetery.
Sammy enjoyed attending the Goddard Methodist Church and appreciated the visits and prayers of the Rev. Jim Doughton and congregation.
He is survived by his wife, Gale Borham Reeves; his two children, Connie Reeves Anderson (Dusty Connor) of Ewing and Earl Reeves (Susy) of Flemingsburg; his three grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Ingram, Josh (Jennifer) Anderson, and Justin Reeves; his five great grandchildren, Grayson and Tucker Ingram, and James, Jackson, and Jacob Anderson. He is also survived by six of his siblings, Woodie (Ginny) Reeves of Goddard, Ernie (Kathy) Reeves of Defiance, Ohio, Larry (Peggy) Reeves of Warsaw, Ky., Tommy (Dorothy) Reeves of Fairborn, Ohio, Donnie (Linda) Reeves of Flemingsburg, and Danny (Garnetta) Reeves of Flemingsburg; his sister-in-law, Trish Reeves; along with a host of many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his father Woodrow and his mother Dorothy, he was preceded in death by two of his siblings, Bonnie Reeves Allen Boggs and Claudie Reeves; his son-in-law, Everett Anderson; and a special cat, Oscar.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. James Doughton, Rev. Paul Gray, and Rev. Clint Strickland officiating.
Sammy will be laid to rest in Goddard Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Woodie Reeves, Larry Reeves, Tommy Reeves, Donnie Reeves, Danny Reeves, and Paul Reeves. Honorary pallbearers include Victor Diaz, Edward Plummer, and Donnie Reeves.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
In place of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Sammy to the Goddard Cemetery (1905 Crainton Road, Ewing, KY 41039).
