Sara Elizabeth Hilterbrand "Sally" Buckley, 81, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.

Sally was born June 30, 1935 in Rowan County to the late James H. & Nannie Whisman Hilterbrand.

Sally loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them; she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up and taking care of them when she could. Sally was known for her cooking and baking, as well as her flowers and garden. She loved to read and was a member of Muses Mills Christian Church.

Survivors include her children Greg (Michelle) Buckley, Sandra (Doug) Reeves and Pam Bowles; grandchildren Lynsay (Lane) Jones, Cheyanne Buckley and Makayla Ann Bowles; siblings Midge (Charles) Emmons and Charles "Charlie" (Eula) Hilterbrand ; dear friend Madeline McKee; also surviving several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband Charles Earl Buckley, parents, sisters Maudie Strode & Vada Chrisman, and brothers Harold, Bruce, Elmer, Tracy, James and Rev. Bill Hilterbrand.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Boone – Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Reeves and Bro. Charles Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in Ramey's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Brett Lawson, Terry McKee Sr., Terry McKee Jr., Matthew Hilterbrand, Scott Hilterbrand and Mark Helterbrand will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Strode and Nick Helterbrand.
