Shirley Ray Robinson Simmons, 76, of Flemingsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 4, 2016 at her home.

Shirley was born December 2, 1939 in Hazard, KY to the late Ivel and Inez Howard Robinson.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Shirley had worked as a nurse for several years in Texas. She loved to read and care for her animals that she cherished.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years Donald Simmons; children Gregory Scott Fite of Kenai, AK, Lynn Fite Hawkins of Vernon, AL, Lori Ann Fite of Middletown, OH, Jimmy Simmons, Jill Cox and Janet Miller all of West Union, OH; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister Jean Robinson Whitaker of Cincinnati, OH; brother Ronald Robinson; niece Bobbie Jo Gregston of Middletown, OH.

Shirley was preceded in death by a son Daniel Edward Fite; great grandson; brother I.H. (Ivel) Robinson; nephew Mark Robinson and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Friday April 8, 2016 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12 -2 PM Friday. Burial will be private.
