Sylvia Joy Mitchell, 70, of Ewing, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. She was the widow of Eugene Mitchell.

Born in Nicholas County on June 26, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Pearly Wiggins Jolley.

Sylvia was a caring, loving and selfless woman. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, going to dances, and watching The Price Is Right. She was a member of the Flemingsburg First Church of God.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, April Morris and Barbara (Walter) Mitchell, all of Ewing; her grandchildren, Chassity (James) Groves, Samantha Morris (James), T. J. (Cortney) Morris, Matthew (Brittany) Morris, and Dustin Jolly; her great grandchildren, James Groves, Jr., Trey Morris III, Allyson Greene, Eli Morris, Madi Morris, Aliza Johnson, and Greyson Johnson. Sylvia is also survived by her brother, Roger (Euwilla) Jolley; her sister, Patsy Pugh; special friend, Cray Shields; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband Eugene who passed away in 1994, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Mitchell; her brothers, Dudley, Riley, Emery, Lloyd, and Waverly Jolley; her sisters, Eva Duncan and Adalene Sapp; and her sons-in-law, Randy Jolly and Chatty Morris.

Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 20th, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Herbie Stallard officiating. Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Will Goerner, Ray Bryant, Raymond Bryant, Kurtis Godsey, Nick Norris, and Matt Durham. Honorary pallbearers include Austin Howard and Jody Sapp.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
