Thomas Lloyd "Tom" MacDonald, 77, of Flemingsburg, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 13, 2025, surrounded by his wife and family, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 14, 1947, his father was the late Lloyd A. MacDonald and his mother was the late Edith Evans MacDonald.

Tom grew up in Flemingsburg and graduated from Fleming County High School.  He went on to graduate from Transylvania University and Salmon P. Chase Law School.  While attending law school he worked as a cost accountant for Square D. Company in Oxford, Ohio.  Between 1969 and 1972, Tom worked with Junior Achievement.  He would be transferred to Oxford, Ohio in 1972, promoted to a cost accounting supervisor.   By 1977, he would return to Fleming County to join MacDonald and Walton, Attorneys At Law where he would practice for the next 40 years.  He served three years on the board of directors of the Kentucky School Board Attorneys prior to serving one year as President Elect and one year as President in the 1980s.  During this time he was a presenter for a CLE seminar and planned a CLE while serving as acting president.  He served as the city attorney for Flemingsburg for 38 years and the attorney for the Fleming County School Board for 35 years. He was on the board of directors for Peoples Coverage until 2020.  He served on committees for the Fleming County Investment Club and on the Fleming County Ambulance Board from 2017 to 2021.  He also served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher for the adult class at the Elizaville Christian Church where he was a member and served as Elder for 40 years. In 2024 he received Elder Emeritus status at Elizaville Christian Church.

Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet Vice MacDonald; their three children, Tim MacDonald (Marisol Yupari), John (Janet L.) MacDonald, and Melinda MacDonald; his five grandchildren, Lea MacDonald, Mia MacDonald, Matt MacDonald, Caleb Young, and Benjamin Young; along with many extended family members, and many friends.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Elizaville Christian Church with Bro. Aaron Arrasmith and Bro. Rich Anderson officiating.

Tom will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Michael Vice, Paul Vice, Sean Standiford, Caleb Young, Benjamin Young, Matt MacDonald, Jason Irvin, and Nat Morris. Honorary pallbearers include James Hay, Steve Donovan, Jim Hutchison, Dick Fain, Clarke Standiford, Frankie Vice, Steven Vice, Todd Walton, Eddie Ward, Daryl Grannis, Danny Carpenter, George Lathram, Kenny Souder, Larry Hawkins, Kenny Cartmill, Randy Bowers, Terry Ferguson, Chuck Brown, John Slone, Don Peyton, Mark MacDonald, and Mike MacDonald.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the church located at 53 Hilltop Road, Ewing, Ky. 41039.
