Obituary

Vernon Lambert Bumgardner, 96, of Flemingsburg, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Northpoint Lexington Healthcare Center in Lexington.  He was the widower of Betty Jane Skeens Bumgardner.


Born in Hillsboro he was the son of the late Carl Bumgardner and the late Monnie Lambert Bumgardner.


Vernon was the owner and operator of a  Ford tractor dealership.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.  He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.


He is survived by one of his children, Carla Denise Bumgardner; his five grandchildren, Greg Gaines and wife Lynne, Chris Gaines and wife Mary Kate, Jody Bumgardner and wife Tammy, Cody Bumgardner and wife Sarah, and Katie Alexander; his eight great grandchildren, Dylan Gaines, Avery Gaines, Emerson Gaines, Brody Gaines, Evelyn Gaines, Ashton Henderson, Jackson Bumgardner, and Sydney Bumgardner.   He is also survived by three of his siblings, Marilyn Martin, Martha Waltz, and Sue Razor; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.


In addition to his wife Betty Jane and his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by three of his children, June Gaines, Paul Bumgardner, and Kathy Jo Bumgardner; and three of his siblings, Betty Jo Royse, Dean Black, and Jean Bumgardner.


Funeral services will be privately conducted on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
