Obituary

Walter Louis Jackson, Jr., 74, of Flemingsburg, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2017.


Born in Fleming County on August 13, 1943, Walter was the son of the late Walter Louis Jackson, Sr., and Louise Corner Jackson.


He worked as a mechanic for the State Highway Department for 27 years. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. He also proudly served his country for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps, serving two tours in Vietnam.


He is survived by his wife, Beulah Scott Jackson; his son, Walter Louis Jackson III; his daughter, Charma Coleman; his stepdaughters, Donna (James) Burns and Frances Kirk; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his close friend since childhood, Albert Hathaway. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brothers, William and John Lee Jackson; his sisters, Emma Graham and Betty Jackson; and his stepsister, Fannie White.


Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 29th, at the Flemingsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Taylor officiating.


Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.


Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the church located at 1856 Elizaville Road, Flemingsburg.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Hope ( 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056).
