Walter D. Reynolds, 86, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at Baptist Health Lexington.
Born in Mercer County on October 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Arthur Delbert II and Rosa Brown Reynolds.
Walter retired from the Department of Agriculture as a chemical and pesticides inspector. He worked in auto sales, cemetery sales, at the garden center for J. C. Penney, and Reynolds Nursery and Landscaping. For 13 years he proudly served his country in the Kentucky National Guard. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Salvisa and attended the Flemingsburg Baptist Church.
Walter is survived by his wife of 17 years, Bettye Boone Reynolds; his son, Wess Reynolds and wife Betsy of Berea and their children, Jordan, Erin, Lucas, Emily and Allison; his daughter, Zondra Shannon of Berea and her children, twin sons Mark and Paul and son Ryan; his daughter, Nora Hale and husband Jason of Gallatin, Tennessee and their daughter Capri. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Reynolds and wife Faye of Harrodsburg; his sister-in-law, Lona Reynolds of Harrodsburg; his nieces, Sherry Lancaster and Rhonda Chagan; and his nephew, Arthur Delbert Reynolds III.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Reynolds; and his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 12th, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Wesley and Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Pallbearers include Lucas Reynolds, Mark Shannon, Paul Shannon, Barry Sloas, Jason Planck, Jimmy Gibson, Allen Stone, and Michael Shannon. Honorary pallbearers include Nelson Cline and Rodney Thompson.
Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
