Wendell Lee Johnson, 79, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at Fleming County Hospital.

Born on January 25, 1937, in Fleming County, he was a son of the late Henry S. and Catherine Berry Johnson.

Wendell worked at US Shoe Factory in the maintenance department, at Bluegrass Housing as an electrician and at Litton Ford in the auto body department. After his retirement Wendell enjoyed working on antique cars and spending time with his family. Wendell attended the Flemingsburg Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Colleen McKee Johnson; a daughter, Debra Lea (Van "Doodle") Alexander of Flemingsburg; a granddaughter, Wendy (Drew) Fryman; step granddaughter, Katie Alexander; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Colton Fryman; a twin brother, Woody A. Johnson; a sister, Anna Ruth McClain; a cousin, Marion Berry; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry "Jay" Johnson Jr.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
