Demaree "Woodie" Todd, 85, of Flemingsburg, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.
Born in Lexington on March 18, 1939, his father was the late Demaree Todd and his mother was the late Irene Caywood Todd.
Woodie had been the mayor of Flemingsburg for 10 years and served on the city council of Flemingsburg for 12 years. He had been a deputy sheriff and deputy jailer and was a volunteer on the Flemingsburg Fire Department. Woodie had worked for both local funeral homes, Denton's and Boone-Nickell. He was a member of the Jaycee's, a member of the
Fleming County museum board and had also performed for many military funerals as the bugler. He was a member of the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church.
Woodie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Means Todd; their three daughters, Gretta Roe (Ernie Bryant), Vinessa (Brian) Hitch, and Shelley Roe (J.D. Morgan); his three grandchildren, Jesse (Maggie) Morgan, Xachary Hitch, and Bela Hitch; and his two great grandchildren, Atley Morgan and Tate Morgan.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with Bro. Jeff Lambert and Bro. Jesse Morgan officiating.
Woodie will be laid to rest in rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Brian Hitch, Ernie Bryant, J.D. Morgan, Jesse Morgan, Xachary Hitch, Colby McCloud, Joe Dunaway, Jr., and Terry Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers include Tate Morgan.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the church located at 117 West Main Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
