Aubrey T. Harney, Sr., 78, of Orchard Road, Flemingsburg, formerly of Millersburg, Ky., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at U. K. Healthcare, in Lexington.
Born in Harrison County on November 28, 1941, he was the son of the late George Thomas Harney, Sr., and the late Mary Lou Hill Harney.
For 25 years, Aubrey worked for Ladish Company in Paris, making steel valves. After retirement he went to work on horse farms in Bourbon County with his most recent employer, Briarbrooke Farms. He was there for eight years before he was overcome with sickness in December 2018. He was then cared for by his sweetheart, Linda Flora, of Flemingsburg. Along with being his caregiver and sweetheart, they shared lots of laughs, dances, a few tears, and lots of love in their few short years together.
In addition to Linda, Aubrey is survived by his son, Aubrey T. Harney, Jr., and wife, Karen; his three daughters, Debbie Lynn Harney, Kathy Jo Asher, and Jessica Ann Wheeler; Linda’s sons, John Ashley Flora, and Greg (Chasity Gulley) Flora. He is also survived by his brother, George Thomas Harney, Jr., and wife, Dorothy; his sisters, Ruth (Ervin) Dampier and Anna Lou Myers; 19 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Alan Harney; his daughter, Mary Lee Fryman; his grandson, Joseph Alan Fryman; his granddaughter, Natasha Wright; and his daughter-in-law, Crystal Harney.
Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 27, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Eubanks and Tom Hamm officiating.
Aubrey will be laid to rest in Longview Cemetery in Bethel.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 26, at the funeral home.
