Billy Gene Applegate

Billy Gene Applegate, 86, of Tollesboro, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Saint Joseph East in Lexington.  He was the widower of Donna Lou Tully Applegate.

Born in Tollesboro on February 14, 1937, his parents were the late William Belvin Applegate and the late Hildred Mason Applegate.

Billy was a farmer and a member of the Pine Valley Christian Church.  He enjoyed turkey hunting.

He is survived by his son, Darrin Applegate; his daughter-in-law, Nickie Thomas Applegate; his two grandchildren, Trevor Applegate and Travis Applegate.  He is also survived by two of his siblings, Rena Thomas and Paul (Jenny) Applegate; along with many extended family members and friends.

In addition to Donna, his wife of 58 years who passed away in November 2014 and his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clinton Keith Applegate; and two of his siblings, Howard Applegate and Gary Ray Applegate.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Pine Valley Christian Church, with Bro. Phil Cropper officiating.

Billy will be laid to rest in Pine Valley Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Travis Applegate, Trevor Applegate, Darrin Applegate, Frank Mawk, Jim Lightner, Brad Schultz, and Mike Thomas.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., at the church located at 3847 Ribolt Epworth Road, Tollesboro, Ky. 41189.
