Billy L. "Bill" Barker, 71, of Wallingford, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Fleming County Hospital.
Born in Flemingsburg on May 30, 1950, he was the son of the late James H. Barker and the late Loval Cox Barker.
From 1968 to 1992 Bill proudly served his country in the United State Navy, retiring as an E9 Master Chief Submariner. He later worked in farming and as a truck driver for Stephens Trucking.
He is survived by his two daughters, Samantha Whitman and Heather Barrens; and his five grandchildren, Gavin, Logan, Cameron, Emerson, and Avery Whitman. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Phyllis Harmon, Rita (Terry) Carpenter, and Jon (Pam) Barker; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents James and Loval, he was preceded in death by five of his siblings, Roger Barker, Bob Barker, Garry Barker, Carol Barker, and Bonnie Barker-Hester.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Voiers officiating.
Bill will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.
Pallbearers include Jon Barker, J. R. Barker, Greg Barker, Steve Humphries, Terry Carpenter, and Bob Atchison. Honorary Pallbearers include Terry Newsom.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at Boone-Nickell.
